Rapid Prototyping Lab

Argonne National Laboratory is a leader in Autonomous Discovery (AD). We believe that self-driving labs will streamline processes, save resources, and accelerate the pace of discovery by integrating robotic experimentation with artificial intelligence and machine learning.

But preparing labs for Autonomous Discovery requires an immense troubleshooting effort. That’s where the Rapid Prototyping Laboratory (RPL) comes in.

RPL serves as a prototyping space for Argonne’s Autonomous Discovery effort and a hub for cross-lab collaboration. We identify common issues that can arise during AD and then quickly create and test solutions. Our efforts ensure that labs remain efficient and productive as they transition to an exciting new era of Autonomous Discovery.
